Subject: RE: PERTH FOLK CLUBS November 2012 From: GUEST,Guest TF Date: 14 Aug 12 - 03:39 PM There is no folk club in Perth. The nearest one is Glenfarg. |
Subject: RE: Perth Folk Clubs November 2012 From: Big Al Whittle Date: 14 Aug 12 - 04:17 PM oh come on you guys = Perth, that's like a city - there must be somewhere they'd like to hear Bob - take a listen to his new album, London road - available on Amazon. Gotta be a coffee bar , a group of disident intellectuals, a charity concert, a prison - somewhere that will give Bob Kirkpatrick a listen! hands across the sea and all that bollocks.... |
Subject: RE: Perth Folk Clubs November 2012 From: GUEST,GuestSG Date: 15 Aug 12 - 06:37 AM Doesn't the club at Wanneroo still operate on a Wednesday? (can't remember the exact venue, its been a long while.....) Also you could try thr Fly By Night club in Fremantle. The man who knows all about the Perth scene is Ray Downes, but I understand he returned to the UK to live in Cumbria recently. Another possible source of info would be Bob Rummery who lives in Sorrento just north of Perth - best of luck. |
Subject: RE: Perth Folk Clubs November 2012 From: BobKnight Date: 15 Aug 12 - 06:56 AM Seems like you're talking at cross purposes guys. Is this the original Perth in Scotland, or the one in Australia? Feel it's Australia as I can't remember any Geraldton in Scotland. :) |
Subject: RE: Perth Folk Clubs November 2012 From: Big Al Whittle Date: 15 Aug 12 - 07:04 AM I knew this would happen. Bob is going on holiday to Australia to see his brother. What this means is that you get a chance to hear a guy who writes songs and plays guitar damn nearly as good as Ralph McTell. Bob's never written a big commercial Streets of london type hit - so otherwise he wouldn't get a chance to tour Australia. However, he's pretty damn good - so try not miss out. he's special in his own way, and I think you'll like him and his guitar picking and songwriting. |
Subject: RE: Perth Folk Clubs November 2012 From: GUEST,OldNicKilby Date: 15 Aug 12 - 07:22 AM The Folk scene in Perth tends to be House based with lots of "House" Concerts. There are some Clubs but they are few and far between Try contacting "Little Folk Inc" a childrens cancer charity, they do lots of such events. Graham Pirt did some last year. Ken Kenny is the contact as in Enda Kenny's big brother. These house concerts really are a very good evening. Good luck! Contact me if you are having trouble finding the people. |
