Does anyone know the lyrics to the House of the Rising Sun parody which features the line 'One foot on the platform, one foot on the train, I won't be doing that again.

Not the one you wanted, but like projectile vomit, at least it's out there. Notable only for including the surnames of the original five Animals.

There is a song from New Orleans, it's called the 'Rising Sun',
The chords go round and round and round, and the words go on and on.

My father played the steel guitar, at Butlin's holiday camps,
He drove around from town to town with a van-load of guitars and amps.

He played the latest favourites, so that people could sing along,
He'd even play them 'Agadoo' and that awful 'Birdy Song'.

In fact he'd play them anything, excepting only one,
However much they asked him to, he wouldn't play the 'Rising Sun'.

He'd play requests for Valentine's Day, for birthdays and Christmas too,
But that Animals song, going on and on and on, was something he wouldn't do.

One day my father sent for me, he said, 'I've something to tell you, son.
Don't ever eat the yellow snow, or play the 'Rising Sun'.'

He said, 'I'm laying down my burden, my race is almost done,
But promise me this, that you'll resist that awful 'Rising Sun'.

Be a farmer, be a chandler, be a sailor or a nun,
But take my advice, don't pay that price, don't play the 'Rising Sun'.

Rusty, I like it, although, as we all know, the song must not be identified with the Animals' version. Might be seen as the US analogon to those obvious "Wild Rover" parodies mentioned in various Mudcat threads.

In case you wrote those lyrics yourself and are secretly fishing for compliments, you got mine.
