Subject: Dislikes on Facebook From: Alan Day Date: 18 Aug 12 - 04:57 AM I understand that it is impossible to create "Dislikes" on Facebook and only "Like" as a comment. Suddenly I notice that many of my comments ,videos, pictures Utube videos posted on my site by myself, or friends, have started to have a large number of dislikes against them.I personally could not care less, if someone does not like my playing, comments, photo's, or friends photo's that feature me.The person has obviously got a lot more time than me and getting some amusement out of it (get a life ! ) I am more interested to know how it is being done.Is it by hacking into my Facebook pages, or some other method ? Have any of you experienced this nutter ? Al |

Subject: RE: Dislikes on Facebook From: Deckman Date: 18 Aug 12 - 05:40 AM I think "facebook" is a very bad joke ... it represents the worst of so called "networking" ... but maybe that's just me! bob(deckman)nelson |
Subject: RE: Dislikes on Facebook From: Richard Bridge Date: 18 Aug 12 - 05:42 AM Youtube has a dislike button. Are you talking about Youtube, or facebook? |
Subject: RE: Dislikes on Facebook From: Bonzo3legs Date: 18 Aug 12 - 05:54 AM And as for the fucking "Timeline"..........about to be forced on me! |
Subject: RE: Dislikes on Facebook From: Ole Juul Date: 18 Aug 12 - 06:23 AM I put 0.0.0.0 facebook.com in my hosts file. For those that don't know networking, that's like your computer automatically saying "no". Here is my 3000 word article suggesting why you shouldn't use Facebook. As for the OP seeing dislike buttons, that's a Firefox addon. You might have fallen pray to a cute scam. See here. |
Subject: RE: Dislikes on Facebook From: The Sandman Date: 18 Aug 12 - 07:52 AM very good, in simple words facebbook is their to sell, to ell to you and to sell advertising, it is not even handed in its protection of users, it appears to ben toweards pressure from the establishment and governments |
Subject: RE: Dislikes on Facebook From: Alan Day Date: 18 Aug 12 - 08:52 AM Hallo Richard. The dislike are appearing on Facebook and very few have any connection with Utube which as you point out has a dislike option. Against a standard facebook posting I get the normal that there is a number of "Like's", against that is a number of "Dislikes" up to 14 against some postings, Sadly the dislikes do not show up any names, Thanks for the info Ole but I have not clicked on any dislike attachments. It is interesting that some of the dislikes are against "friend" postings of photos or videos, but not all. Al |
Subject: RE: Dislikes on Facebook From: Jeri Date: 18 Aug 12 - 10:29 AM You have received dislikes on Facebook, but Facebook has no dislike button? O_o!? |
Subject: RE: Dislikes on Facebook From: Jeri Date: 18 Aug 12 - 10:31 AM OK, I think the comments are happening at YouTube and showing up in the links on Facebook? Disable comments on YouTube. There seem to be an awful lot of vandals there with little to do and slightly less to say. |
Subject: RE: Dislikes on Facebook From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 18 Aug 12 - 07:36 PM No rational person would dislike Alan Day. Last week I was playing his 'Snowflakes are Falling,' and my husband (on the couch behind the newspaper) announced that it was delightful. |
Subject: RE: Dislikes on Facebook From: Alan Day Date: 19 Aug 12 - 05:00 AM Hallo Jeri I can see that the dislikes could be added on Utube, but how is it being done against Facebook comments and photos posted on my page from either my posted photos, or against those posted by others onto my page. There is no Utube connection there. Thanks Leeneia XXX Al |
Subject: RE: Dislikes on Facebook From: Jean(eanjay) Date: 19 Aug 12 - 06:00 AM I am not in favour of dislike buttons anywhere and I wish YouTube would remove them. People click them for all sorts of reasons, not necessarily because they dislike the content of the video. There are some wonderful videos on YouTube that even if they are not to everyone's taste really do not deserve dislikes but they have them. I have seen comments on videos where someone has said "sorry but I clicked dislike by mistake". Then why didn't they undo that dislike ~ it is possible and quicker than writing a comment. I like Facebook and I really like timeline. However the like button there would be better removed. I spend hours making videos which I post on YouTube and share on Facebook. However, does anyone on Facebook show any interest in them by clicking like? ..... NO .... but someone posts something like ffs followed by some inane comment and twelve people 'like' it! I have not had any problems on YouTube with likes and dislikes but I don't think it is uncommon and it could happen to any of us. I think if it happened to me I would try sending a report to 'report a bug' on YouTube and if that didn't bring any joy I would just disable likes and dislikes. If someone has a lot of YouTube accounts they can dislike the same video from all accounts and it is meaningless ~ 10 dislikes but all the same person. |
Subject: RE: Dislikes on Facebook From: Jean(eanjay) Date: 19 Aug 12 - 06:03 AM Alan, sorry meant to say I do not know how anyone dislikes something on Facebook but am about to search the help there to see if I can find anything out about it. |
Subject: RE: Dislikes on Facebook From: Jean(eanjay) Date: 19 Aug 12 - 06:22 AM I cannot find anything so it must be something like hacking which does happen quite a lot. I don't know if changing password and clearing browsing data after each use would be enough to stop it. |
Subject: RE: Dislikes on Facebook From: Jean(eanjay) Date: 19 Aug 12 - 06:39 AM I have tweeted this thread to see if anyone can come up with an answer for you. |
Subject: RE: Dislikes on Facebook From: LilyFestre Date: 19 Aug 12 - 09:59 AM I like Facebook as it allows me to easily keep up with friends from far away, gives me free access to a place to sell things on yard sale sites (like Craigs List), and I can share my photos there as well. Michelle |
Subject: RE: Dislikes on Facebook From: Ole Juul Date: 20 Aug 12 - 07:18 AM Has anybody tried the Facebook Dislike Add-on? If you're unsure if you have it or not, click "Tools" --> "Add-ons". |
Subject: RE: Dislikes on Facebook From: Alan Day Date: 20 Aug 12 - 08:30 AM Ah ,this is the answer, some kind person is having fun with this add on and targeting people they do not like. There does not seem to be a maximum number of dislikes that you can put up, so my moron friend is putting dislikes on everything including postings to me by my friends. Now you would think that Facebook would put a stop to this add on . It obviously amuses this person to put a dislike on all and sundry and with any luck a call from a couple of white coated gents may put them in a padded cell where they belong. Al |
Subject: RE: Dislikes on Facebook From: Ole Juul Date: 21 Aug 12 - 01:51 AM Are you sure you don't have it installed? That's what I was linking to earlier, a description of how you get this installed by clicking on something, but not the dislike button of course. If you're seeing the dislike button then you already have it installed AFAIK. |
