Subject: Lyr Add: Zemer Atik [Nigun Atik] From: Mr Happy Date: 19 Aug 12 - 04:41 AM Here's a super tune we've been playing in local sessions for a while: Zemer Atik [Old Song] Od nashuva el nigun atik Vehazemer yif veye'erav Od gavia meshumar, nashik, nashik Alizei einayim ve-leivav Tovu, tovu ohaleinu Ki machol hiftsia Tovu, tovu ohaleinu Od nashuva el nigun atik ******* We will return again to an ancient melody And the song will linger on. When we raise our glasses together Our eyes and hearts will be bright. How good are our tents Because there's dancing there. How good are our tents Still we return to an ancient melody. Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Zemer Atik [Nigun Atik] From: Joe Offer Date: 20 May 16 - 12:07 AM My wife had a great time singing and dancing this song in a music group this evening. When she told me about it, I found a very nice YouTube video: -Joe- |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Zemer Atik [Nigun Atik] From: Jack Campin Date: 20 May 16 - 05:27 AM I believe it's an Israeli song fron the 60s, not a way back traditional one. Calling it "Ladino" seems a bit dubious, even though it sounds like some Sephardic songs. (In the klezmer scene it's usually "not one of ours"). Joe's video is nice and straightforward. In most other YouTube videos it seems to be a pretext for dressing up like Isadora Duncan. |
