Subject: RE: Jesus said I am the light of the world-sheet music From: Joe Offer Date: 22 Aug 12 - 04:11 AM Hi, Ken - A number of us Mudcat "regulars" are church musicians, so Mudcat is a pretty good place to look for stuff like this (despite the occasional unwelcoming comments). If we've got the right piece, it was published by GIA Publications, and you can also order sheet music from Sheet Music Plus. You can contact GIA (Gregorian Institute of America) through the Contact Us page on their Website. I've contacted them for information about pieces of music in the past, and they've always been very nice and very informative. I remember one nice chat I had with a GIA representative about a piece of music we agreed was tacky. Another time, GIA helped me get in contact with a college friend of mine - GIA had published a piece he composed. Good luck. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: Jesus said I am the light of the world-sheet music From: Max Date: 22 Aug 12 - 12:42 AM 1. You all know how important it is to me for us to be nice to newcomers. 2. Reverend Gary Davis's "I am the light of this world" is one of my favorite songs and one I often perform. 3. I laughed out loud at Dead Horse's post. Viva La Mudcat. max |
Subject: RE: Jesus said I am the light of the world-sheet music From: GUEST,Grishka Date: 21 Aug 12 - 06:17 PM Ken, the link says "SATB" (= mixed choir) and perhaps organ colla parte, so even if it is the same tune, it may not be useful to you. Do you know that for your version, a piano arrangement exists at all? It is vital that the chords match. If you wish and can, you can post here an "ABC notation" of your choral arrangement and chords, and I (or whoever beats me to it) will vamp you a piano part, which you can print. |
Subject: RE: Jesus said I am the light of the world-sheet music From: maeve Date: 21 Aug 12 - 12:23 PM Ken- I wonder if you might find it by limiting your search to the UK- particularly sites such as: http://www.eden.co.uk/ If you do find what you seek, you might let us know so those of us who enjoy tracking down songs can stop looking! PS Mudcat has a strong focus on folk and blues music, yet includes all kinds of people with all kinds of music interests. Thanks for stopping in. |
Subject: RE: Jesus said I am the light of the world From: GUEST,DataKnight Date: 21 Aug 12 - 11:48 AM Thank you for all your replies. Unfortunately I think it's going to be hard to find what I'm after. The two sites I was given by Jacqui (Thank You) don't match with what I'm after. The second one was close but I think it's a different setting to what I'm looking for - unfortunately I can't see a copy of the music without buying it. I'll try the UK version if there is one but my guess is that there won't be sample sheet to look at. Thanks too to Maeve for the web link. I also now realise that the site is aimed more at folk music people rather than being more general. But at least you've tried to help out. Thanks again. Ken |
Subject: RE: Jesus said I am the light of the world From: Nigel Parsons Date: 21 Aug 12 - 11:00 AM At a slight tangent, In 'Godspell' they have the lines: "I am the light of the world, But if that light's under a bushel, It's lost something kinda crucial" Lovely rhyme :) |
Subject: RE: Jesus said I am the light of the world From: Musket Date: 21 Aug 12 - 10:34 AM In one way, I agree with you Wesley S. In another, ignoring brainwashing on the basis that it has been taking place so long that is it almost seen as socially acceptable doesn't diminish the opportunity to ask people to think about what the hell they are doing? |
Subject: RE: Jesus said I am the light of the world From: Wesley S Date: 21 Aug 12 - 09:29 AM When a first time visitor to the Mudcat asks for information about a song I would like to think we are tolerant enough not to be critical of their song choice because it doesn't fit our personal agenda. DataKnight - welcome. I hope you get all the info you need. You'll find the majority of us to be helpful. |
Subject: RE: Jesus said I am the light of the world From: Musket Date: 21 Aug 12 - 09:00 AM Catch 'em young eh? At least you are honest enough to call it a children's song I suppose. Enjoy your camp... |
Subject: RE: Jesus said I am the light of the world From: maeve Date: 21 Aug 12 - 07:49 AM Cross posted- hello, Jacqui! |
Subject: RE: Jesus said I am the light of the world From: maeve Date: 21 Aug 12 - 07:49 AM Hello, Ken. I see you are looking for one copy of the piano accompaniment for the song, "Jesus Said I Am the Light of the World". I'm looking around online. I see a piece by that name arranged by Simon Mold, available from a US site: http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/Jesus-Said-I-Am-the-Light-of-the-World/4601454 . I understand you need it asap; it would help if we knew the exact arrangement you have. Any other details you could offer? Perhaps it exists as an online download. Maeve |
Subject: RE: Jesus said I am the light of the world From: jacqui.c Date: 21 Aug 12 - 07:45 AM Is this the one? Or there's this The second one is an American website but you may be able to find a UK equivalent. |
Subject: RE: Jesus said I am the light of the world From: Dead Horse Date: 21 Aug 12 - 07:32 AM Do you need sheet music for every child you are trying to brainwash or just for the piano player? |
Subject: RE: Jesus said I am the light of the world From: GUEST,DataKnight Date: 21 Aug 12 - 07:30 AM Title should have said Sheet Music Wanted... sorry |
Subject: Jesus said I am the light of the world From: GUEST,DataKnight Date: 21 Aug 12 - 07:01 AM I have some chords for this children's chorus/song (Starts in C) we are using at camp this week but I dont know where it came from or where to obtain the sheet music. I could really do with the piano accompaniment. I'm based in the UK. Thanks for any feedback Ken |
