Subject: RE: Tech: Twitter not loading today From: JohnInKansas Date: 27 Aug 12 - 05:40 AM It was my understanding that abbreviations are mandatory at Twitter, due to the short character limit on tweet length, so yes, I used the abbreviation that the tweeps use. John |

Subject: RE: Tech: Twitter not loading today From: JohnInKansas Date: 27 Aug 12 - 05:18 AM Comment that made the news yesterday indicates that Twitter is radically(?) revamping their policy on Aps that will be permitted to wrap, mangle, rearrange, report, and relay what appears on their site. The analyses of what the new rules may mean suggest that quite a few very popular aps may be prohibited within a couple of months, and new aps may be far fewer, and more limited in what they can do, than before. It's difficult for those of us who are nobody's tweep to know how significant the changes may be, but those who are frequent users might want to take a look at what's going on. One commentary here. Subject: RE: Tech: Twitter not loading today From: JohnInKansas Date: 26 Aug 12 - 07:05 PM Reinstalling any program frequently results in losing patches that may be significant, so it's a good practice to check for updates after a reinstall. Very rarely it may be a new patch that causes a problem, but if all but one site works, that's even less likely. (Some, but not all, patches can be "backed out" individually, so reinstalling the program may not be necessary if a patch breaks something for you.) Release of a new patch sometimes reveals a vulnerability that the "casual hackers" didn't know about, so there's often a flurry of attacks on a vulnerability that's just been patched, to catch those who don't patch promptly before they get protected. Although there hasn't been much "officially reported" there also seems to have been a recent surge in DDOS attacks, mostly on DNS Servers, that have no discernible purpose and no visibly organized intent. They may be only because reported organized DNS Server attacks made some of the "less serious" hackers aware it could be done. These attacks have been rather "random" since many of the attacked DNS servers only affect small areas or small groups of users. John |

Subject: RE: Tech: Twitter not loading today From: Stilly River Sage Date: 26 Aug 12 - 01:31 PM It's looking fine, it must have been your browser. Early on they did have a few problems but they've gotten much better in supporting the volume of users. SRS |

Subject: RE: Tech: Twitter not loading today From: GUEST Date: 26 Aug 12 - 08:02 AM Thanks for your reply, it loaded once this morning then after 1 hour it stopped loading, so I suspect it's a problem with Twitter itself. |

Subject: Tech: Twitter not loading today From: Bonzo3legs Date: 25 Aug 12 - 02:51 PM Is anyone else having a problem with Twitter not loading today. My wife can get it to load using Firefox 14, but I cannot on my identical PC also using Firefox 14. No luck at all with IE. |
