Drove to the gig with Max Bygraves singing a song from my childhood "Gilly, Gilly, Ossenfeffer, Katzenellen Bogen by the Sea" |
Subject: RE: Obit: Hal David - Songwriter (1921-2012) From: fat B****rd Date: 02 Sep 12 - 03:02 PM He wrote some of the best lyrics. Songs such as Walk On By must have tugged many a teenage heart-string. RIP Mr. David. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Hal David - Songwriter (1921-2012) From: pdq Date: 02 Sep 12 - 04:48 PM "The Story of My Life" helped prove that Marty Robbins was a geat Pop singer, not just a County singer from Arizona. Hal David also wrote some of the worst songs ever, such as "Do You Know the Way to San Jose" and "One Less Egg to Fry". Pure drek. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Hal David - Songwriter (1921-2012) From: ChanteyLass Date: 02 Sep 12 - 08:53 PM Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head--but they will no longer fall on his. I was surprised to see how many movies used that song. http://www.haldavid.com/words.htm |
Subject: RE: Obit: Hal David - Songwriter (1921-2012) From: GUEST,Gerry Date: 02 Sep 12 - 10:49 PM Raindrops was the song they played when I toured the LBJ ranch back in 1986 or so. I never did get the connection, maybe Johnson just liked the song. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Hal David - Songwriter (1921-2012) From: JHW Date: 03 Sep 12 - 05:08 PM I admit to being a Bacharach/David song fan. Always something there to remind me, 24 Hours from Tulsa, Anyone who had a heart, Trains and Boats and planes... And they're all nothing like each other. Well done and RIP! |
