I'm a big fan of anything that helps me hook up with local musos and this new(ish) site looks like it has possibilities

http://www.musomap.com/

You register and place a pin on the Google map with whatever details you like. It makes use of hashtags, so including things like #folk, #acoustic etc will make it easier for people to find you.

There's nearly 1000 people on there, but they are spread over the whole world, so the muso density in many areas is sparse. There's lots of classical people on there, but then it was started by a violinist. I've chatted with him and he's up for suggestions.

BTW We did Towersey as our first family and had a great time. The kids want to go back next year. Some cool workshops there.

I'm reluctant to tell the world that my house is likely to be full of stealable instruments.

Leenia, just put the marker in the center of your town and give an email contact address and/or phone number. I see no need to put your actual address into the map.

It doesn't have to be exact. I've put mine on the pub up the road where I run a session.

You don't even have to give contact details as people can mail you via the site.

This site isn't run by the IRS or Her Majesty's Inspector of Taxes by any chance?

Your address is easily obtainable from your phone number (unless it's a cell).

My address IS a cell. What then?

Stanron: Why would Her Majesty's Inspector of Taxes imagine musicians are making any money?

It looks okay now. But if it listed all the musicians in Edinburgh there might be 50,000 of them, of whom 45,000 were in garage rock bands.

It isn't obvious how they plan to scale up and stay usable.
