They are from the early 70's came out after when? was it when he was charged with tax fraud or resigned ... or was it from one of his many comments. People had a hay day with them. My wife teaches history and wanted one LOL

I remember 'ol Spiro. I remember computing that IF things had gone differently, Spiro could have been president in 1984! I never desired anything to remind me of him.

(I DO have 5-6 matchbooks from Nixon's desk!)

by the way mine and bobster's are originals, the ones marked dirty tricks are repro's. You can get the originals at the same price. Also some people have them on for 100+ don't pay more than 20 bucks ever. They made about a millon plus and they are still everywhere

Back in the day there were a lot of Spiro Agnew jokes, one of them being; "Did you hear that Mickey Mouse is wearing a Spiro Agnew watch." The idea being that Spiro was somewhat cartoonish. Some clever entrepreneur named Doherty had a bunch made and the rest is history.

The only other Spiro Joke I remember was "Did you hear, Spiro Agnew's library burned down. Both books were burned and he hadn't finished coloring one yet." Which got recycled for George W.

The day he resigned I was at a choir practice. We were rehearsing Vivaldi's Gloria. It was suggested that Cum Sancto Spiritu be sung Cum Sancto Spiro Too. Dr. Anderson vetoed the idea.
