Subject: RE: Sessions in Sheffield From: Jack's Rake Date: 06 Oct 12 - 12:40 PM I thought the Eurosession was at the Gardener's but I could be wrong. The Monday night Bath session has definitely moved to the Red Deer, though. |

Subject: RE: Sessions in Sheffield From: GUEST Date: 01 Oct 12 - 10:14 AM There's lots of sessions in Sheffield. Were you looking for specific ones according to 'nationality' of the music, or one where you might hear all of the above styles? For instance I'm not sure about a specifically 'French' session – I've only met two French people who lived Sheffield in the last 27 years, (neither played tunes) but there's a once a month 'Eurosession' in the Shakespeare ( I think) where there'll most likely be some French tunes included. In addition to the ones already mentioned, there's the Gardner's Rest, the Bath Hotel (Mondays) and the Grapes, that you could try. My advice would be to spend a couple of weeks (or months, or years) going round them all, and deciding which ones suit you the most. What do you play/sing/like to listen to? |

Subject: RE: Sessions in Sheffield From: foggers Date: 29 Sep 12 - 04:05 PM Hello ST and welcome to Sheffield, a city where you can go somewhere for singarounds, folk clubs and acoustic sessions every night of the week. Paul Davenport is right in saying that getting hold of "Stirrings" magazine will give you access to probably the most comprehensive set of listings for the S yorks area and a bit beyond. |
Subject: RE: Sessions in Sheffield From: Paul Davenport Date: 29 Sep 12 - 02:56 PM Try Kelham Island Tavern, Fagans or Hillsborough Hotel. Tomorrow night there should be something in one of the above. For a regular update check out 'Stirrings' magazine. |
