My Secret Is My Silence is one of my favourite albums of recent years. It's an amazing record. I can't make this though, sadly.

Friday 12th October 2012 @ The Bell Hotel, Driffield.

Popular Driffield acoustic night Moonbeams will be back next week with an appearance by Idlewild frontman Roddy Woomble.

The gig, which marks the first Moonbeams event after the very successful Moonbeams Wold Top Folk Festival which took place in July at The Wold Top Brewery, will see the Scottish rock band's front man visit The Bell Hotel as part of the UK tour of his second tour, The Impossible Songs and Other Songs.

Roddy's debut album My Secret is my Silence won rave reviews across both rock and folk press and he went on to record and tour extensively with Kris Drever and John McCusker, releasing Before The Ruin, the debut album of Drever, McCusker & Woomble in 2008.

During the performance, Roddy will play hits from both solo albums, Before The Ruin and a few hand picked Idlewild numbers.

Woomble's solo work has been described by BBC Music as: "Tender and epic, enormous yet touching" and by The Guradian as: "A moving and quietly joyous collection of pieces weaving together strands of folk, jazz and country".

Roddy will be supported by Nine Black Alps front man Sam Forrest who will be taking a break from the bands current tour to perform his solo work in Driffield.

Sam released his first solo album Down By The Hillside in 2008, followed by Paper Crown in 2009 and No Imagination in 2010. The front man of the Manchester based band is now back with his latest offering The Edge of Nowhere.

The gig takes place on Friday 12th October at 7.30pm for 8.00pm start, at The Bell Hotel in Driffield, East Yorkshire.
