Yeah, Bobertz, it just don't work well at all with Romney and Obama. Not even half as good as it would with Schwarzenneger and Ventura, that's for damn sure. Too bad this great historical opportunity to match up Jesse and Ahnold in the ring has passed! Maybe I can persuade Jesse to re-enter the political fray. The last time I seen him we got in a small disagreement about the relative merits of Chimps, Humans, and Jimmy Buffet, and I hadda bust a couple chairs over his head after he busted a couple bottles over mine...in fact, most of the furniture in the place got busted before we was through. He fights pretty good for a Human.

I think yer idea is a brilliant one, Bill, specially the jello part! Even better if ya had William Shatner there too as the referee. Ya could hold the event inside a sort of shallow pool with raised sides to hold in the jello and the combatants. Use blue jello on one side, red jello on the other, with a line of yellow jello acrost the middle like the center line in hockey. Make it about 6 inches deep.    Scharzenneger wins by pinnin' Ventura in the red zone...Ventura wins by pinnin' Schwarzenneger in the blue zone...Shatner wins regardless, by gettin' paid big bucks for officiatin' the match. Furthermore, get Sarah Palin to walk out between rounds holdin' up the number sign for the next round, she bein' dressed in a skimpy bikini, moose antlers, and fishnet stockings. It would be a spectacle NEVER to be forgotten. All future campaigns would struggle in vain to equal or surpass it.

I heard an interview with Arnie by Leslie Stahl of 60 Minutes, and holy crap, what a farrago that was. Stahl can't ask a proper question -- it's one long-winded assertion after another -- and Arnie won't give a straight answer.

The clue to the whole business was in the first 30 seconds, when Stahl announced that Arnie's book is published by Simon & Schuster, which is owned by the same megacorporation that pulls the strings on CBS News. Obviously, 60 Minutes was merely an obligatory stop on Arnie's book tour.

Practically speaking, what has Arnie to lose by washing all his dirty linen in public? He has more money than God, he's confident of making more, and -- on the evidence -- he doesn't care about anything else, certainly not his children's reactions to his squalid revelations.

Several times, Leslie Stahl asked whether he consulted or even considered the feelings of all these people -- children, ex-wife, ex-mistress, etc. -- and each time he said he didn't give them any thought. I believe him.

The first time I ever saw this twerp was on The Russell Harty show, a few centuries back, where, as the then 'Mr. Universe' he prattled on about how women found him soooooo attractive and one woman had written to him saying how she wanted to pour hot choclate over him and then, lick it off.. People don't like it when I say this, but I think he did a reasonably good job as governor of California, despite his questionable personal life. He did very few things that were really stupid, and he didn't get bound up in one ideology or the other. He was fairly practical and reasonable in his approach to things.
One could say the same about Bill Clinton.
