Subject: Chord Req: Chord Request (Tuning Whole Step Down) From: GUEST Date: 05 Oct 12 - 06:03 PM Alternate tuning, a whole step below Standard Tuning. DGCFAD Chord is voiced like this: x-5-3-0-5-0 Notes are: x-C-Eb-F-D-D Notes fit into the Eb major scale: Eb F G# A# C D Eb So, I'm looking at a chord formula of: 1 2 6 7 What chord would this be? |
Subject: RE: Chord Req: Chord Request (Tuning Whole Step Down) From: Jack Campin Date: 05 Oct 12 - 06:44 PM It looks like a dissonant crunch intended to resolve to D minor if you were playing in the D phrygian scale. I doubt it has any name independent of the context you're using it in. |

Subject: RE: Chord Req: Chord Request (Tuning Whole Step Down) From: GUEST,Stim Date: 05 Oct 12 - 08:14 PM That would be a Cm9/added 4th(no 5th, but you don't need it). Not sure why you want to double that high D. I'd just play the open note on the high string and forget the other. At any rate, not sure what your referring to, but an Eb scale is like this: Eb-F-G-Ab-Bb-C-Db-Eb- C minor is the relative minor in the key of Eb. I'm curious as to what other chords you're using it with, and also why you're tuned down a full step. |
Subject: RE: Chord Req: Chord Request (Tuning Whole Step Down) From: GUEST Date: 06 Oct 12 - 12:33 AM The Db should be a D. E♭, F, G, A♭, B♭, C, D, E♭ |
Subject: RE: Chord Req: Chord Request (Tuning Whole Step Down) From: GUEST Date: 06 Oct 12 - 01:01 AM I'm not looking to really resolve this chord within a progression, (or if I do, maybe insert just one other chord and go between the two). My guitar's neck is badly bowed, so I detuned it a whole step. It's easier on my hands this way. Sorry about the OP scale errors folks, and thanks for all of your input! |
