Hiya,

I've got the go-ahead to get said "magic" necklaces (Life Line & door-opener) customised. As a fantasy novel lover I really want magical symbols/glyphs/runes made to look like they're glowing or something but I also need the necklaces to work (they'll both be used a lot every day – no way around that), so the symbols can't go over the middle of the pendants. They need

I've had various equipment painted with nail varnish because it got so old the arrows wore off, that was fine, but it was so well-used the nail varnish wore off as well.

Thanks for any ideas you may have.

Look up the formable colour silicone substance called 'sugru':

It comes in several colours, could be used to make a custom design, but could eventually be removed if you wanted a different symbol.

An interesting site we stumbled into while looking for something else probably isn't quite what you're looking for; but some of what's there may be used in your way or might be converted.

The page may also be of (much?) some interest to those into genealogy and prone to wandering around in graveyards looking for the departed ones.(?).

Peregrina, thanks for the info about sugru. I found it most interesting.

Claire, another way to make an item "pop" is to make the necklace one color and the emblem out of the color which is opposite on the color wheel. (You can find color wheels online.)

Have you tried hardwearing enamel paints (Humbrol) - none that 'glow' as such, that I know of, but there are certainly metallic colours which will be shiny. Silver may work for you: http://www.humbrol.com/paints/paints-by-finish/metallic-colours/aq0126-11-silver-50ml-metallic-enamel-tinlet/
