Subject: new song Big Al Whittle From: Big Al Whittle Date: 07 Oct 12 - 05:02 PM This is a song for guitarists. You play your guitar and this bit reminds me of Dylan, that bit sounds a bit like The Beatles, or Oasis, or Paul Simon.......and really all that music is within the guitar – waiting for you. Feed back will be very welcome with this song. As I'm not sure I've got it right. Hope you like it! http://soundcloud.com/denise_whittle/i-long-to-play-the-song-my |

Subject: RE: new song Big Al Whittle From: GUEST,Big Al Whittle Date: 08 Oct 12 - 08:58 AM Bruce....what can I say. i am so honoured. Truly I am not worthy... to tell you the truth I'm still pissing about with the lyrics - so feel free to add subtract, whatever. This is the last time I typed it out - I know I changed it after that. And the lead break is all over the place. But its taken about six weeks obsessive messing to get it even that good. I long to play that song my guitar sings I long to play that - song my guitar sings Play every note like the beat of a blackbird's wing The song of the sky, and the sweet fresh air - on that first day of the Spring I long to play that - song, my guitar sings Stood alone as the storm was raging in the depth of night And lightning bathed the whole world , in blue 'n' silver 'n' white I cried Bring down the lightning to my fingers and hands, when I touch these guitar strings! For I long to play that song my guitar sings! When you stand on the mountain see the ravens swoop and fly Almost reach out and touch them, cos you've borrowed their place in the sky Lord make my fingers as just as strong..... strong , as their swoop and swing When I play that song, the song that my guitar sings I wanna walk that promised land The muse will set me free The rocks and the soil beneath my feet will Harmonise with the waves of the sea. When I get to play the song that my guitar sings Play every note like the beat of a blackbird's wing Songs of the sky, and the sweet fresh air on that first day of Spring And I shall that song - the song that my guitar sings Words and music by Alan Whittle ©03/09/2012 21:44:15 |
Subject: RE: new song Big Al Whittle From: GUEST,999 Date: 08 Oct 12 - 09:08 AM That song has legs. Bitchin' piece of work. I certainly understand the 'messing around with it for six weeks' statement. Hell, that's why we get the big bucks, right? I'm honoured, Al. Thank you very much. |

Subject: RE: new song Big Al Whittle From: Acorn4 Date: 08 Oct 12 - 11:28 AM The song is very good and would have been equally so even if you hadn't included explanations - sometimes it's perhaps best to leave a little mystery about lyrics. |

Subject: RE: new song Big Al Whittle From: Beer Date: 11 Oct 12 - 07:24 AM There are songs out there that are complete crap. No, let me start again. I have been evaluating singer song writers for the past 3 years as a member of a company that issues checks to musicians upon meeting certain regulations. Often I get discouraged in what arrives (on my desk.)and that I have to evaluate. Then once in a while a musician appears and upon the first few notes on their instrument or the first line of their lyrics completely blow you away. Al, this is one of them. Solid, beautifully written and your guitar work is just right. Best of luck in all your work. Adrien |
