Not the usual melody for "Peace in the Valley". This one appears to have been taken from the old country music weeper "Born to Lose" recorded in 1942 by Ted Daffan another steel guitar man.

For what it is worth here's the Farris session from Laughton & Hayes The Gospel Discography 1943-70 (Eyeball, 2006). The layout might suffer when submitted.

                        c. 1962
                Walk to Thee        Farris 101
Soldiers of the cross        Farris 102

As last but omit Rev. Grimes.
                        c. 1962

Wondering child, mother is dead -1        Farris unissued

(All above titles issued on Southern Sound (E) LP 200; No details for Farris LP 108 "A Night At The House Of Prayer" which is probably the original of the Southern Sound LP.)

If you can lay hands on them, there are articles about him in Blues Unlimited Magazine (UK, now defunct, but libraries may have) issues # 90 and 96.

Sacred steel guitarist. Operated own record label in L.A. in the early 60's. Know anything about him? Tunings he used? Any performance films available?
Info appreciated.
