Subject: RE: Deskjet's New CD! From: Lonesome EJ Date: 14 Oct 12 - 11:57 PM The kind of stuff done by the people that inhabit our Mudcat World are probably never going to garner a boatload of listeners, Bruce. Your stuff is no more pop music than mine, or Brendan's, Jed's, Mick's, olddude's, Genie's or Loxley's. Dan Oconnell's Moonshine Road blew me away when he garnered 100,000 hits, setting some kind of bar for acoustic folk music. I'm rewarded, however, by the joy of performing a really good song, like Brendan's, and by the encouragement of people like you and gnu and Dave Carter, and by the mutual creative energy that gets distilled and defined in this website. Not for the first OR the last time, but....Thanks Max!!! |
Subject: RE: Deskjet's New CD! From: GUEST,999 Date: 14 Oct 12 - 03:58 PM Good one, Ernie. That song deserves one heckuva lot more listens than it's had, imo. You present Brendan's lyrics well, and he wrote a darned effective story for that beautiful melody. B |
Subject: RE: Deskjet's New CD! From: Lonesome EJ Date: 13 Oct 12 - 04:38 PM Well, here is my version. I couldn't hope to capture Brendan's passion in his vocal and playing, and so I tried to summon up the feeling of a session in a Dublin Pub. Brendan sent me some photos of his family and their Irish Citizens' Army ribbons, and I used them intermingled with some other images to try and illustrate his story as best I could. Subject: RE: Deskjet's New CD! From: Jeri Date: 13 Oct 12 - 03:28 PM I heard "Liberty Hall" and my eyes leaked, then I thought "Where's Big Mick?" Maybe I heard LEJ sing it? It DID sound familiar. |
Subject: RE: Deskjet's New CD! From: GUEST,999 Date: 13 Oct 12 - 02:51 PM I beg to disagree with regard to your talent, EJ. But indeed you recognize a good song when you hear it. |
Subject: RE: Deskjet's New CD! From: Lonesome EJ Date: 13 Oct 12 - 02:26 PM I may not be that talented myself, but I know a good song when I hear one, and Dromin and Liberty Hall are both excellent songs. |
