Subject: RE: london folk and roots festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 15 Oct 12 - 05:52 AM Ah - from the folk world website "Amersham Arms, 388 New Cross Road, SE14 (0181 692 2047). New Cross tube/BR Music 8pm. "Tuesday is Irish folk night and sessions are usually lively. Sunday nights also feature Irish bands, while other nights are variously themed, including indie rock on Wednesdays and C&W on Saturdays." Not my cup of tea. |

Subject: RE: london folk and roots festival From: GUEST,Bobs folk show Date: 14 Oct 12 - 06:49 AM No singarounds and why are you being so negative? Folk music is a living thing it has moved on since the 1950's |
Subject: RE: london folk and roots festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 14 Oct 12 - 05:57 AM I am however very tickled by the pub's own website which so far from a sinaround refers to a "ho-down". That could be popular, I suppose. Many years ago my daughter's electric band Torniquet http://uk.myspace.com/youngtorniquet played there and it was a bit of a dive - and definitely not the sort of place I'd have associated with folk. |

Do any play 1954 definition folk? Are there back rooms for sessions or singarounds or anything like that? |
