Does anyone have the words to Win Stracke's song Christmas in Clout City? I'd like to do them as a recitation for a Unitarian/Universalist service. I could not find the words on line or in the digital tradition search. Thanks.

About 1/4 way down that link are lyrics to something called C in C C Fantasy. It's a shot in the dark; I've never heard the song.

I'd found that on line before I put out the thread and it wasn't the one. I know sing out printed a version in the '70's. I don't have the issue anymore, unfortunately. I know there's an i-tunes version I can find and transcribe. I'll also see if I can find it by emailing sing out. Thanks for looking. The jist of the story is Santa claus and Jesus go to Chicago during the reign of the first mayor Daley. It ends sort of with Jesus being arrested on Wells street and being told to leave town.

That helps a lot. Thanks, I'll check that out when I get to a real computer at home.

I looked up the Mike Felton re-write and while it has some of what Win was getting at, I didn't like the updating and he left some other stuff out.

I'm happy you've located the lyrics. And for the little help I was able to give, you're welcome.

I just heard from Sing out and I paid $3.00 for them to PDF the real words to me. Such service.

Thanks, Jeff,

I do have the words now. I have done the song as a recitation in the service. It goes over well in that context. Win did a bit of that in his recorded version.

The words are on my spouse's computer, I'll search and see if I have them in last year's email folder.

Since the pdf came from sing out I'm leery of posting that version as it would be under copyright.
