For this Sunday's programme. I have assembled an A-Z of music so 26 tracks over two hours. There will be 13 tracks by artists who will be making appearances in the folk clubs in area in the next few months and 13 others selected from all over the worls and all mixed up together just as the alphabet demands. The programme breaks up into three easy sections today. After the news at 8pm, it will the cold followed by the hot as first of all my Studio guest Bára Grímsdóttir will be giving us an introduction to the musical traditions of Iceland and then in the last 40 minutes of the programme, I will be concentrating on the country with the richest of all the African traditions and with many of the finest musicians. Mali and I will be trying to explain how recent political change and incursions by outsiders is threatening that tradition.
In the first hour of the programme it will all be tracks from albums released this year and I'll be playing pairs back to back so we will hear two tracks of music from each of Ireland, Australia, Portugal, New Mexico, French speaking Quebec, Senegal, and two separate minority language areas of France
