Holly Tree - Welsh song and dance

Subject: Holly Tree. Welsh song and dance

At school we used to sing a carol with the line
"praising loud the evergreen
the tree whose name is the holly"

And later I did a dance in square formation to the tune.

I thought the name would be spelled Galunnen but google makes me think it might be celynnen.

Can anyone help with the tune, words or dance instructions (I can't find them though I thought I had them all)

Y Gelynen is the song. Here's Dr Meredydd Evans singing it (track 102) rather faster than it's played for dancing.

Thanks, that's the one I wanted. And I think I've remembered the dance - well if I've got it wrong I'll call it the Folk Process.
the words I had (from an earlier BBC schools pamphlet which must be somewhere under my piles of paper) had a different translation - maybe less true to the original, I don't know.

In case you were wondering what has become of Meredydd Evans in the 59 years that have lapsed since he recorded Welsh Folk Songs for Smithsonian Folkways, I have good news. Mered and Phyllis Kinney are both in their 90s and are living in the village of Cwmystwyth in the wilds of Ceredigion. A New CD and 23-folksong book called Ffylantin-tw! have just been published as a tribute to the invaluable work which Mered and Phyllis have contributed, and the book and CD were launched at Llandow National Eisteddfod - Sian West Wales had a brilliant hand in that!
