Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Jogger From Clare From: MartinRyan Date: 31 Oct 12 - 05:34 AM Can't say I recall ever hearing it, Jim. Probably a comic rewrite of The Rambler from Clare? Should be possible to trace it over this weekend in Spanish Point - unless you were hoping to have learned it by then?! See you Friday Regards |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Jogger From Clare From: Jim Carroll Date: 31 Oct 12 - 07:18 AM Thanks Martin - the thought had occurred to me that it was a version of 'Rambler'- hadn't thought about the Singing Weekend though. "unless you were hoping to have learned it by then?!" Me sing a sporting song; I'd rather watch an egg boil!!! Jim Carroll |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Jogger From Clare From: GUEST,999 Date: 01 Nov 12 - 04:22 AM Jim, are you sure of the title? When I search with quotation marks "The Jogger from Clare" The only place it appears is on Mudcat. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Jogger From Clare From: Joe Offer Date: 01 Nov 12 - 04:35 AM Don't go wasting your time chasing a jogger song, 999. This is something these Irish people do, probably because their nights are too long and their weather too depressing. You're better than that. Don't do it. ;-) -Joe- |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Jogger From Clare From: GUEST,999 Date: 01 Nov 12 - 04:57 AM Hi, Joe. Did you go into sales? Man, you are sure rackin' up the miles. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Jogger From Clare From: Jim Carroll Date: 01 Nov 12 - 06:14 AM "Jim, are you sure of the title? " That's the title I was given (though originally my neighbour asked for 'The Codger from Clare") It's quite possibly a local, recently composed song which hasn't hit the streets yet - I'll get some more details at the weekend. Thanks for the thought Joe: Don't they jog in the states? Seems to me every time I see a film featuring Central Park there's a poor afflicted soul.... though I understand they think they might have found a cure! Thanks for the thought folks Jim Carroll PS Spent the weekend at the very enjoyable Roscommon Singing Weekend at Knockroghery which ended with a long session of humorous songs - heard some gems including an hilarious send up of 'Last Thing on my Mind'. Missed 'The Man Who Shot Danny Boy in the Fields of Athenry' by the same singer. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Jogger From Clare From: GUEST,Desi C Date: 03 Nov 12 - 06:09 AM For the benefit of Joe Offer, nights in Ireland are the same length as the rest of the world and the weather is pretty much identical to England's. If you need any more educating re Ireland Joe do let me know! |
