Subject: The Mimes They Are A'Cagin' From: Blackcat2 Date: 28 Oct 99 - 11:30 AM greetings all - just psoted this song (hopefully correctly) Thought I'd share it all with you. comments and insults gratefully accepted! The Mimes, They Are A'Cagin' Copyright 1996 by Tom Cook Come gather round people and hear what I sing. There's a law that I know that's a terrible thing. Way back in '96 it was passed by one vote And while it's not very engagin' There's a terrible legacy you really should note For the mimes, they are a'cagin' The Republicans passed it one chill Winter's night And the very next morning it caused such a fright For the act of silence was golden no more, And on street corners a new war was ragin' The arrests were many but there wasn't a roar For the mimes, they are a'cagin' Bucky the Clown was the first to be stopped. Then Uncle Waldo and Chuckles and Zippy were dropped. They were locked-up in cells with visible bars And all they could do then was just dream of the stars For the mimes, they are a'cagin' Now it's been twenty years since that fateful day. And mimes have pretty much vanished away. Except for the resistance with has managed some way, But it's members are rapidly agin' They're fighting a war and win it they may For the mimes, they are a'cagin' Now some say that a mime is a terrible thing But if you catch my drift from this song that I sing Don't make your decision with blindness and haste It's a war we all should be wagin' For a mime is a terrible thing to waste! And the mimes, they are a'cagin' Written in response to the concept that anything Conservatives don't like must be legislated against. Tune - obviously Dylan's The Time's they Are A'Changin' This song can be used freely by anyone connected and/or visiting the Mudcat Cafe and Digital Tradtion

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: The Mimes They Are A'Cagin' From: Wolfgang Date: 28 Oct 99 - 12:09 PM Blackcat2, you're struggling with the line breaks as all of us did at least once before learning (it took me two weeks I remember)? Type <br> at the end of each line. We won't see this and it does the job. Wolfgang |
