I'm writing an article on teaching cultural geography through song (I'm in a foreign language teaching environment) and as background I want to go into the role/benefits of local songs in community identity. Most of the sources I have so far - e.g. project documentation - seems take such benefits as a given. Whilst not disputing that, I wonder if anyone can point me in the direction of any references that provide concrete examples of these benefits esp quotes or empirical evidence. Many thanks all.
