I just found a riot of knitted garments for street furniture in the town where I live.
This link shows one of 30 examples (in a second tab/window). You can see some threads hanging in the background.

So, any where you are and - did you?

Not me - I am too busy photographing such things.

I've only seen it when Chongo's cousin had a booth at the local starving artist's show.

Oh, you said guerilla art.

Never mind...

Some have commented that my town has an unusual amount of "public art" thanks to a few benefactors, but most of it is fairly permanent and done by "recognized artists," although some of does look more like "accidents by amateurs" to many of us.

For the most part, there's relatively little "unofficial art" (i.e. graffiti) although a drive past the railroad yard often finds some "impressive" (I won't say what impression) graffiti on many of the cars.

Guerilla? Art? Not what I'd call it.

There are some strange women around here (NorCal) who have been dressing up lamp posts in knitwear. I don't see the point, but it appears more craft than art, and there's certainly nothing warlike about it.

I see poetry nailed to phone poles in Portland sometimes.

Unfortunately, no, I live in a tastefully manicured corner of suburban sprawl. The closest thing we have are those little roadside crosses, which, in my opinion, cost entirely too much.

we have it here - check out the The Knitted Convenience & here (on my favourite blog which just happens to cover my neighbourhood) & here, including the black & white stocking around the little twig tree!

video of guerilla knitting decorating an historic house in my area

I like it & could have joined the locals creating it.

I occasionally see other examples around about

Not much round here, some Banksy inspired stencil art. Not seen any knitted clothing for street furniture, which is a shame as I think it's wonderful! I'd much rather see this sort of art than the advertising-related stuff which usually infests our urban public spaces.

I think it is twee, but it brightens-up a fairly laid-back town. If it was going to happen it would be here. Stroud is a very "alternative" town.
I certainly favour this over Tagging - however well done that is, it attracts poorer versions over painted.

I have images of other Guerilla Art, like a toy man hanging from a statue and a 45 EP bluetacked to a traffic light. I am sure there is a loose club of these people hereabouts.

There is the issue of when the "Art" starts to deteriate or more likely is vandalised. The "Artistes" should be rational enough to remove it.

It is tremendous fun. Children to the ancient ones ; chopsticks to Chopin. It is a great delight to witness youth who have practiced and practiced for "their first public review. " I have stumbled across them at the Metro Union Station Los Angeles...The Natural History Museum Paris...the EuroStar train station London.

There are "protests " pleading for the pianos to stay longer.

Thousands of videos.

YouTube slide show of the same images and the odd joke. Oh and plus one shot of a post box with a knitted cap from another photographer.

Purls of wisdom mark Dresden bombing A tank in front of the Museum of Military History in Dresden, Germany, is covered with knitting as a protest against war to mark the 68th anniversary of the Allied bombing of the city in World War II.

Some years ago a former sister in law got involved with a group that believed that soldiers in Korea (that's how long ago) desperately needed knitted "cock warmers."

I think the s-i-l had to learn to knit in order to participate, but had knitted half a dozen before someone explained to her what they were and planted a slight suggestion that the group had "been had."

I sincerely hope that no poor soldier suffered from not getting one, since the group sort of fell apart soon after.

John
