Happy 65th Birthday Betsy, who joins the swelling ranks of the OAPs today!

Those of you who remember what joy those nights would bring, raise your boozy voices in harmony and give a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday to you.."
And when we come to the end, let's sing it again..

With my own voice cracking as a result of some new dastardly medication, I opened this thread expecting a parody of the North-East folk club standard Hewin' Days (Johnny Handle???). Something along the lines of:

When I was young, and in my prime
Ee, aye, how we could sing!
We were singing all the time -
But me singing days are through, through
But me singing days are through.

Well let's hope not, eh?

Sorry for the intrusion anyway, and happy birthday / many happy returns & many happy years of song.

Happy birthday Pete now you can look forward to arthritis myopia hair loss piles tooth decay bad back, bad knees and flatulence. Morning stiffness means your joints have siezed after a few hours in bed. Sex is a miss spelling of a large bag. A good night out means you are home by 9 a good drink means cocoa with half a spoon of sugar.
Enjoy your day

Regards
Fantum

Many thanks all and as for Fantum stating I can look forward to " to arthritis myopia hair loss piles tooth decay bad back, bad knees and flatulence ", I already suffer from more than half those bloody irritants / afflictions.
Just returned home after a great meal with Vin (his birthday is next Tuesday) our wives and one or two others where we dicussed (wait for it) the price of car repairs , annuities and the male's ability to iron in a happy marriage.
What happened to the days when we talked about football, women and drink?
Perhaps the world has moved on.
Cheers
Betsy
