Subject: Homebrew,; the band From: Susan A-R Date: 28 Oct 99 - 11:11 PM Has anyone heard of this group? I heard a radio program on them in the early to mid eighties, and don't know who the folks in the band were, or if they still exist. They did some nice material, mainly Dnglish. I'm quite sure they were Brittish. I do know that there was a fiddler, and a banjo player. Beyond that . . . I'd like to know. I also just got back from a concert, and am curious to find out if the vocalist I just heard was in that band at one point. Susan A-R |
Subject: RE: Homebrew,; the band From: Lady McMoo Date: 29 Oct 99 - 08:24 AM Dear Susan A-R, You are probably referring to the Shetland band Hom Bru. They did a fine CD "Rowin Foula Doon", available on Lochshore Records (CDLDL1230)round about 1990 and certainly featured excellent fiddle and banjo. Most of the material is from Shetland. All the best, mcmoo |

Subject: RE: Homebrew,; the band From: Susan A-R Date: 31 Oct 99 - 04:44 PM Thanks, guess the name confusion (radio does have its limits) might have made it difficult for me to find 'em. More info would be great. Susan A-R |
Subject: RE: Homebrew,; the band From: GeorgeH Date: 01 Nov 99 - 01:22 PM A highly unfortunate choice of name, I always thought. Some of us here remember a Bernard Wrigley song with that title. Which makes it IMPOSSIBLE to take such a band seriously. G. |
