Subject: Mudcat Christmas / Yule Singaround From: GUEST,CS Date: 14 Nov 12 - 11:36 AM Just been going through the songs submitted to the Hallowe'en Mudcat self-promotion/singaround thread, and although attendance was not massive, I found it most entertaining. So, I thought, how about Mudcatters submit links to music and songs - preferably of their own making, or alternatively which they love by others - suited to a Yule / Xmas theme? Any songs, either Christian, Pagan or Seasonally focused, welcome. Please link to actual music (audio or video) rather than simply lyrics or titles as is the norm on MC - but lyrics also welcomed *alongside* the audio/video links! |

Subject: RE: Mudcat Christmas / Yule Singaround From: Lonesome EJ Date: 14 Nov 12 - 07:13 PM Another song on that CD, and maybe my favorite on it. This is Jed Marum at his most festive!:>)Just one warning. The song has this addictive chorus that I couldn't stop singing last year until January.. Banjoes We Have Heard on High |

Subject: RE: Mudcat Christmas / Yule Singaround From: Lonesome EJ Date: 18 Nov 12 - 01:36 PM Sedayne is a Mudcatter whose music I also discovered on the Mudcat CDs from last year. Here's a very moody yuletide piece from his Youtube site, which I hope he doesn't mind my sharing here... Gower Wassail |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Christmas / Yule Singaround From: GUEST,Blandiver Date: 19 Nov 12 - 04:24 AM Cheers, Lonesome EJ - Last year we made up a Soundcloud page called WINTERFLORA (geddit????) including a new / improved Gower Wassail (with vocal harmony on the chorus!) and more besides, ancient & modern. All free with notes / pics etc. Rapunzel & Sedayne : Winterflora 2011 * PS - Venereum Arvum is a name we use sparingly these days as people can't pronounce it without making it sound like some sort of social disease, so mostly we stick to Rapunzel & Sedayne. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Christmas / Yule Singaround From: Lonesome EJ Date: 19 Nov 12 - 11:10 AM and Cheers back at you two, R&S! I have become a fan of your stuff, which I might describe as Eclectic British World-Roots Music, but who would want to be saddled with such a moniker? Good stuff that hits me on a primal level is what it certainly is. Keep up the good work! |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Christmas / Yule Singaround From: GUEST,Blandiver Date: 19 Nov 12 - 11:30 AM Eclectic British World-Roots Music Aw man - that's perfect! It goes nicely with our other moniker of Mom 'n' Pop Frailin' Fiddlin' Folkin' Fun. Taking of which, just posted this on the general Rapunzel & Sedayne page: http://soundcloud.com/rapunzel-and-sedayne/staggerlee-27-9-12 |
