Peter Green live with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers 5 May 1967!

Peter really gets going in his solo after 4 minutes. This must be one of John Mayall's own recordings. I might even have been there, I can't remember, but I used to go to the Manor House frequently.

Great stuff - thanks for posting. I saw Mayall's band live many times in London - but always with Mick Taylor at that time. Saw them at the old Marquee in Wardour Street and at Klooks Kleek (the Railway Tavern) in West Hampstead. In '68, Mayall lived across the road from me in Bayswater - he had a 1st floor flat in a 1930s building on the corner of Queensway and Westbourne Grove - used to lower his gear down on a rope from the balcony to his blue Ford Transit parked below.

And Peter Green had soul in those days - huge talent and a wonderful feeling for the music.

Just last week I emailed John to find out what happened to all the photos he used to take of his band on stage during the Dean/Clapton/Green era. He believes that virtually all were destroyed in the fire at his Laurel Canyon home. Sadly the digital era came too late.

I have a very old cassette of John Mayall, called Blues from Laurel Canyon. Must dig it out and give it a play, I always liked it.

Great track bonzo. I've heard better vocals from Mayall, but Peter Green!!! What tone and feeling in his playing... even at his young age then, the sound of an old, mature bluesman

You know, I think this is the first time I have thanked Bozo for anything - and it will probably be the last.

John - Mick Taylor played on Blues from Laurel Canyon apart from one track. Very good playing very iffy vocal - 'First time something' if I remember.

Big echoey bends

Actually if you click the (all 272 videos) button above that youtube video there are another 7 videos from the same gig. I downloaded them and extracted the audio which lasts 52 minutes in varying sound quality, but Peter Green is superb. There is the same type of aggression in his playing that came from EC a few months earlier!

Mine says it's "A Compatible" recording, and it is an SKC prefix, whereas those listed are all SKL?

Enjoy

That must have been around the time I saw John Mayalls Bluesbreakers with Peter Green at a small nightclub in Birmingham UK. It was a fantastic evening. Peter was superb on guitar and I stood about 3 feet away from the speakers.

I know that John McVie and Christine McVie and possibly Mick Fleetwood were in the band that night. John came up to me in the interval and asked me where the bogs were.
