I am not always enthused about Wikipedia's views on meaning. To obtain confirmation of my view in the meaning of "meiosis" in the context of language this morning I had to turn to the Oxford English dictionary.

Trolling the Mudcat is a ludibrium.

In the MMORPG Maplestory, Ludibrium is part of the continent Ossyria, and it is a bowl-like town suspended between two towers, the Eos tower and the Helios tower.
How about that.

This word isn't in the OED. It was added to Wikipedia (non-mobile listing) in 2003 by a user who called himself "Harry Potter" and who specializes in popular culture film and gaming listings.

Mr. "Krinkle" just defined his use of the site in the way that serious users of Mudcat see him - he is a sociopath who treats it like a plaything, where he can muck about and try to stir up trouble. He's a self-identified troll. The evidence is clear, and Jack the Sailor nailed it.

Nuts. I was surmising that a lubidrium was something that helps one get to sleep, and had a delightfully witty post planned, but then I looked up the definition.

Well, Henry, the page you linked says that a ludibrium is a plaything or a trivial game. I can understand that.

Then it says:

"It has been suggested that Situationist International was a ludibrium devised by Asger Jorn. Like the Rosicrucians, the Situationist International was a very small group that nevertheless became notorious. In this example, a ludibrium functioned as a technique whereby mental projections were cast into the social imagination."

I'm beginning to suspect that that article itself is a ludibrium. What do you think?

Interesting.

I've been trying to think of a plaything of mine which lends itself to ridicule. Playing piano? No. Gardening? No.

Today I have it. My ludibrium is my little ceramic Christmas town, with the lights inside the houses and the toy cars all around. Last year I added a wee John Deere tractor which is pulling a wagon. We loaded the wagon with candy corn. First good use I've ever had for candy corn.

That's a fake. Nobody's elbows can go that way. It's just juvenile Internet manipulation again.

Henry, I think you need to start a collection or to cultivate some bizarre but beautiful plant. Internet manipulators seem to have you in their clutches.

How about some herbs? They seem to be tough, easy-to-grow plants, and the fresh forms taste better than the dried. Sage is even a perennial, so one sage plant is well worth the room it takes.

I made some delicious chicken this summer simply by baking it (covered) in the oven and draping sprigs from my sage plant over it.

Come to think of it, I may have slipped them between the skin and the meat. Yes, I think that was it.
