Regent Music - New Music Agency Launched in the UK

A brand new booking agency, Regent Music, has burst onto the scene with an emphasis on both contemporary and traditional music.

Regent Music has been launched by Phil Simpson, previously an agent with Adastra, the long-standing and well respected agency based in East Yorkshire. The new project was formed from a total love of the job and a desire to represent and develop acts in the Acoustic/Folk/Roots genres in the UK and overseas.

Regent Music may be a new project, but Phil is by no means a newcomer to the music industry, having previously booked tours for top names such as Lúnasa, Juan Martin, and Colin Hay. Phil has been promoting gigs since the age of 16, and is a musician himself.

Regent Music already boasts some exciting up and coming acts on the roster - including the hotly tipped lt-Country quintet ahab, Harmony-trio The Young'uns and the quirky Folk/World duo The Hut People.

"There are simply too many outstanding acts yet to be discovered - and certainly many with real potential to become established names on the music scene." reports Phil.

Over time, Phil hopes to develop the agency into major brand on the UK music scene. He is looking forward to working with artists and promoters in the UK and abroad, and hopes to further expand the business and also offer other services including programming and consultancy.

With lots of fresh ideas in the pipeline and Phil's dedication and passion for the job, the future certainly looks promising for Regent Music.

Great!

Presume this will mean that the people who have been mistakenly foisted on to folk audiences will be found an audience that they deserve and will appreciate them.

There are some great music acts out there that are so obviously well worth listening to and supporting, if only people can be persuaded to do just that.

Selby Town Hall is a shining example of what is possible and there are other venues around the country which could be developed or are developing in a similar way.

More power to their collective elbows.

I wonder if the Mudcat should charge for advertising space for intendedly profit-making enterprises.
