I recently rented it and think it deserves its own thread.

I believe it is the best superhero movie ever. Yes, even better than the Batman flick with Heath Leger.

My favorite part was the encounter between Loki and the Hulk! But there were many excellent scenes!

A spectacle with well written characters and great acting!

Damn. I thought this thread was about the 1960's British T.V. show.
Who cares about silly super heroes? 7 year olds?

I saw The Avengers at the drive in the weekend it opened. It was wonderful! I loved every bit of it.

Honor Blackman. ooooh.
She was on TV recently. Must be well into her 70s and still gorgeous.

Jack - Agreed. Easily the best superhero movie out there. Except the last Batman movie comes close. Looking forward to Ironman 3 and The Avengers 2. Both in the works.

They filmed much of Iron Man 3 here in Wilmington. Looking forward to it for that reason. "Revolution" TV series is filmed here too. You didn't think that cypress swamp was actually in Illinois did you?

Didn't go to watch the Avengers film, as according to all the critics, it failed to capture the spirit of the original - a bit like Austin Powers without the (intentional) humour.

Yeah, but http://www.hipsterama.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/barbara-feldon2.jpg and Jeannie were cuter.

Love the bangs!

But The Black Widow from The Avengers (2012) is hardly chopped liver.

Right on. I've got all the DVDs from the early episodes back from the days of Ian Hendry (the few surviving episodes) until the last series with Linda Thorson. My opinion of her acting abilities rose dramatically when I saw her playing a Cardassian in Star Trek The Next Generation, 6.20 'The Chase'. I never took to The New Avengers - even Patrick McNee seemed bored withit.

I gotta say that Gwyneth Paltrow is certainly the best female sidekick since Diana Rigg. She follows the same tradition of having more common sense than the hero has.

Jack - Maybe you DO get "Revolution" filmed locally. But down here in Georgia we've got the "Walking Dead". Top that. Our show's better than your show.....

Purdey waas Joanna Lumley. IIRC she gave the character's name to a hairdo.

Funny about the hairdo considering the character was named after Purdey Shotguns - Both beautiful and dangerous! Wonder how many people asked for a Purdey to the head... :-)

Back to the thread - Yes, one of my favorites too. Very well put together indeed with plot, script, acting and cinematography top rate and in unison with each other. 10/10 from me.

Cheers

Wesley I lived in Columbus and traveled to towns between Newnan and Atlanta enough to recognize some of the scenery in Walking Dead. I enjoyed watching a few episodes on Netflix for that reason. But the magic power outage is more interesting to me than the rather cliche zombies on your show. But apparently not interesting enough to keep me from renting a movie rather than watch the "fall finale" last night.

YOU WANT ZOMBIES???????

Here are ZOMBIES!!!!

Yeah I've seen the trailer for that one already. It doesn't look like it's going to follow the plot line of the book much. Should be good though.

I like the Zombies like ants scene. Didn't read the book. Is it any good? Zombies are so much better suited to visual media I think.

I thought the book was one of the best of it's kind. Max Brooks - the author - is the son of Mel Brooks. The book is written more like an oral history. A reporter gathers stories from survivors around the world. So it's more like a collection of short stories than one hero saving the world. It sold a lot of copies so I see it often in used book stores.
