I can't help with the Mike Canavan song, but will have to try a pub crawl around Middleton one day since I've recently discovered an ancestor of mine ran a building yard there in the mid-19th century, and according to some family accounts he knew the pubs extremely well!

refers to Middleton Spree in the book of the same name. Unless someone comes up with the lyrics I might have to go and look for it again.

I think the song was called 'Middleton Spree' and doesn't actually feature on the album.

Many years back I heard A song on a radio folk program about Middleton pubs. Some of the pubs mentioned were the "Ring O Bells" " Asherton arms" "Old Boars Head"
Does anyone have more information, Title of the song,Writer,original artist, Lyrics.
Please can anyone help
