Subject: Lyr Add: LET ERIN REMEMBER THE DAYS OF OLD (Moore) From: Teru Date: 08 May 97 - 07:45 PM To AG: I think Thomas Moore's lyrics are what you were looking for in your thread on 23 April. Here, the lyrics: LET ERIN REMEMBER THE DAYS OF OLD Let Erin remember the days of old, Ere her faithless sons betray'd her, When Malachi wore the collar of gold, Which he won from her proud invader; When her kings, with standard of green unfurl'd, Led the Red-Branch Knights to danger, Ere the emerald gem of the western world Was set in the crown of a stranger. On Lough Neagh's bank, as the fisherman strays, When the clear cold eve's declining, He sees the round towers of other days In the wave beneath him shining! Thus shall Memory often in dreams sublime, Catch a glimpse of the days that are over; Thus sighing, look through the waves of Time For the long-faded glories they cover! I hope the lyrics can help you. With regards Teru |

Subject: Lyric request: Let Erin Remember From: Date: 14 Feb 98 - 03:00 PM Can someone provide me with (or direct me to) the lyrics for "Let Erin Remember"? |
Subject: RE: Lyric request: Let Erin Remember From: Bruce O. Date: 14 Feb 98 - 04:27 PM "Let Erin remember the days of old", a song by Thomas Moore to the tune (given) of "The Red Fox", in Stevenson and Moore's "A Selection of Irish Melodies', bk 2, #8, 1808 [Title usually simplified to 'Moore's Irish Melodies']. There were many editions of the songs and poems of Moore, and I've got a couple that I picked up cheap in 2nd handbook stores. Your local library may well have some edition.
