Just been watching this fascinating documentary on Chas'n'Dave. Some great footage of their early years. I also really like the patronising attitude of some of the early T.V. presenters as in "They can actually play you know", funny as f***!

To quote Chas himself "If you don't like Chas'n'Dave, there's something wrong with you!"

Wouldn't Ewan McColl be proud of them?

It was a great programme and I really enjoyed it - including the film of Jerry Lee Lewis playing!

Didn't watch the programme, but saw them live (as a support band) just before Christmas 1978 just after they released Rabbit. Certainly at that time they did quirky stuff that was amusing and very enjoyable.
When they went down the Knees Up Mother Brown route a few years later it didn't grab me.
Other support act was Stan Arnold and he was absolutely hilarious.
Quack!

I know what you mean about the "Knees up" thing, all a bit unfortunate!
Was Stan Arnold the magician guy, in a similar vein to Tommy Cooper? I saw him (I think) supporting them in the early 80's!
(I think it's still available on BBCiplayer if you get the chance by the way).

Stan Arnold was a folk performer who did comedy stuff.
In this instance he was touring with a back up band who were more rock than folk.
Quack!

Ah! I wonder who the guy I saw was then? Hmmm, I guess we'll never know! He was very funny though.
