This is a version of a song known as "The Farmer's Curst Wife" (and various other titles.) There are a number of versions in the Digitrad, with different melodies and nonsense refrain lines. Here's a link to a thread that has pointers to the various versions.

My dad used to sing me this silly song and I only know one verse. I seem to recall him saying that an older man that he worked with sang it. Here is what I know or remember:

I vent to town to find me a vife
A risity rasity now now now
She proved to be the mistake of my life
A risity rasity, iginintasity niggity naggity now now now

My dad grew up in west central Wisconsin and lived there all his life except for a brief stint in the army where he was at Fort Lewis in Washington State. He was born in 1936 and died in 1983.

I have always been curious about this song and would like to know if there are more verses. I seem to remember Dad saying that the fellow who he heard it from originally sang more verses but he didn't know anymore.

Thanks for your help!
