Subject: Note Worthy Help needed

I'm so frustrated I could scream………

Maybe I will. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLPPPP!!!!!

My problem is with the Noteworthy Music Software. I have two BIG problems with the software. (1) When I enter the song into the system I cannot control the length of the line. (2) When I print the song the system prints a second line but the spacing on the second line is different than the first line, so the Measures do not line up. I cannot seam to control the spacing or the line length. It is driving me crazy.

Any suggestions?

Boy, Lloyd, I am just starting to learn the ins and outs of the more complicated stuff on there. If I see anything that might help, I'll let you know, as I am entering some stuff this week.

Noteworthy allows only two spacings.....based on note length or not... otherwise the only way to control how it prints out is to change the font sizes. You enter in one long line...when it prints, the system adjusts to put complete measures on each line, which means it justifies some of them. You can do SOME finagaling by adding underscores __ to the score lyric line, but not a great deal. As I don't read music, I am usually more concerned with getting the lyrics to print out without splitting a word then getting measures to line up. However, I have noticed that the measures don't "line up" on most of the music scores that are printed professionally.....(at least in the couple of song books I just rummaged through)

Lloyd, If (big If) I am understanding you correctly, here are some possibilities.....

1)Controlling the length of the line..... Is that in printing or writing the music in? If it is printing, there is a check box in 'page setup' under 'options' which extends the last system.... If it's just on the screen, don't worry about it because it only adds measures as you add them.... As far as setting the number of measures on the printed page/line, you can't really adjust that except by setting your margins and font size... Again, this is in the page setup.

2) When you are printing two lines, is that ie, piano, rh/lh, or two vocal lines or something like that? The way to make the measures line up is to make sure that you have the same number of beats in each bar using notes and rests..... sometimes you have to play with the configuration of the beats a bit.... Also, check you use of tie's and slurs. That sometimes has an affect on the spacing, but mostly it's having the right number of beats in each bar.

Hope this helps.....

My 11 year old found the best thing to do was to write the tune in cakewalk and send it to noteworthy to print it cakewalk seems to count beter. What a sad day when reading this thread I had to ask for junior advice as I am not very good either of them. Keith

It also depends on what format you choose to write in the first place. It took me a long time to figure out that "Blank score" was what I wanted, no matter what I was writing. That got rid of the extra blank staff. Or, you can click on the blank staff, go to Staff in the tool bar, and delete it!(this may seem obvious but it took me months to figure out!)

Noteworthy spacing problem….

I'm back after trying again.......

I keyed in four measures, the first and fifth and the second and the sixth are identical. When I measure the first and fifth and the second and sixth measures on the computer screen they are the same length. When I print the score the fifth measure is shorter than the first measure and the sixth measure is shorter than the second measure. When I measure the size of the print each charter, lyrics and notes, are the same size. The space between the notes have changes. I feel as I have done something wrong, but what?
