Subject: RE: Origins: the farms of lincolnshire From: GUEST,Backwoodsman Date: 03 Jan 13 - 09:25 AM Tom is the organiser of the 600 Whiskies FC at the George, Leadenham. I would have been seeing him tonight, but I'm smittled by the seasonal ague, so I won't be venturing out. There's a 600 Whiskies FB page which you might find interesting, and which Tom administers. |

Subject: RE: Origins: the farms of lincolnshire From: gnomad Date: 03 Jan 13 - 05:41 AM Tom Lane (Of Higgledy Piggledy) is credited as author on Bill Whaley & Dave Fletcher's CD "...Their Fine Array", the tune being one of two written for it by Dave Fletcher. Disc Ref BILDA001 is dated 1996. Nice song, which I have never heard elsewhere. |
Subject: Origins: the farms of lincolnshire From: johncharles Date: 03 Jan 13 - 05:18 AM I have the lyrics to this song. here is the first verse: "and now I'm past retiring time lays heavy on my hands I think about my working days a labouring on the land But in the blinking of an eye me childhood disappeared At twelve years old I started work on the farms of lincolnshire" Does any one know who wrote it and when Thanks John |
