Subject: The Cleverlys From: gnu Date: 03 Jan 13 - 07:14 PM Beer posted a link below the line but these guys deserve a thread of their own! The things they do in covering "today's music" in a Bluegrass fasion is nothing short of AMAZING to me. Here is JUST one to get you started on an amazing journey of listening to Bluegrass AND "modern" Bluegrass... seriously... these guys have advanced Bluegrass and the modern music they cover (as well as doing "traditional" Bluegrass) to another level. That's what it's all about... innit? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PS0P7w4YCDI I just watched Owner of a Lonely Heart by them... what a treasure! These guys are PURE talent! |
Subject: RE: The Cleverlys From: Jeri Date: 03 Jan 13 - 07:56 PM Another one. I love it when musicians are so obviously in it for the fun of it. |
Subject: RE: The Cleverlys From: Beer Date: 03 Jan 13 - 08:42 PM They are just great. Would love to see them live. What a bunch. Adrien |
Subject: RE: The Cleverlys From: gnu Date: 03 Jan 13 - 09:16 PM Jeri... great one! I hadn't seen it although I have watched over a dozen since Beer clued me in. Truly the most talented (new to me) group of mucicians and singers I have seen in the past while. The harmonies are stunning, to say the least and they ain't slack on tight with them strings and that snare and stomping! And buddy 'plays' the part with his wild look... THAT is entertainment! |
Subject: RE: The Cleverlys From: Beer Date: 03 Jan 13 - 11:39 PM Reminds me of "Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellers". In a Newfie way that is. ad. |
Subject: RE: The Cleverlys From: Ron Davies Date: 04 Jan 13 - 11:27 PM Good tight harmonies, impressive instrumental backup, and not taking it deadly seriously--what's not to like? Johnson Mountain Boys, Dry Branch, have also mined this vein. And it's a rich one--lots for everybody. More power to the Cleverlys. |
Subject: RE: The Cleverlys From: Arkie Date: 05 Jan 13 - 09:46 PM Kind of nice to know that some somewhat local talent has been discovered and appreciated. Paul Harris, Digger Cleverly, graduated from one of the rural schools, Rural Special, to be precise, here in Stone County, Arkansas and has exhibited a flair for comedy that took him to stardom in the country music mecca of Branson, MO.
