Does anyone know the dates between which Princess Margaret was patron of the EFDSS? And for that matter, might we build a chronology of patrons/presidents of the EFDSS?

Princess Margaret was Patron of the EFDSS from September 1948 until 1960.

Presidents of English Folk Dance Society:
Lady Mary Trefusis 1913-1927
Lady Ampthill 1928-1946
during which time the song and dance societies merged to form the EFDSS:
Ralph Vaughan Williams 1946-1958
The Earl of Verulam 1958-60
Princess Margaret 1960-2002
Ursula Vaughan Williams 2004-2007
Shirley Collins 2008-

Vice-presidents have included Douglas and Helen Kennedy, Ursula Vaughan Williams, Dame Ninette de Valois and - now - Eliza Carthy.

Tom Paley is a great musician, but I do no think he holds any EFDSS office

Phil was chief executive (or similar title). Same role as Katy Spicer now. And not to be confused with Chairman of the Board....
