Does anybody happen to know the guitar chord arrangement for 'The Fair Maid of Islington'?
The chords given in the book - 'Broadside Ballads' do not seem correct.

That's nice link, Stim. Trouble is, there's more than one tune for this song. The 'Fair Maid of I..' tune that I know is in 6/8 and the key of G.

Justin, is that video playing the tune you wanted? If not, go to JC's ABC Tune Finder to find a different one. Here's how I get there:

http://trillian.mit.edu/~jc/cgi/abc/tunefind?P=lisa+lan&find=FIND&m=title&W=wide&scale=0.65&limit=1000&thresh=5&fmt=single&V=1&Tsel=tune&Nsel=0

(Despite its name, JC's ABC Tune Finder has songs in many formats.)

Change the search from my 'lisa lan' to 'Fair Maid of Islington'. Then just keep clicking till you see or hear their version.

If that's the one you know, then post the lyrics for the first verse here on the Mudcat and I will put chords on it for you.

Not to put too fine a point on it, leeneia, but I think that version actually is in 6/8 time.

Oh. Okay. Makes, sense, of course, if the words are the same.

Not sure he's actually singing in 6/8 all the time, though, he gets a bit tangled in places;-)

Points out that probably the most common tune for it is "sellengers round", so you may find it helpful to search for that...

My former band used to do June Tabor's version, paired with "Under the Greenwood Tree". I've forgotten the chords, as it's quite a few years ago, but I don't remember it being at all complicated.

Thanks for the link, Mark. It's nice to see chords and notes together.

I play early music, and I knew I'd heard that tune somewhere. "Sellinger's Round" - of course.
