Subject: RE: Lyr Req: don't tell mama I was drinking From: Roger in Baltimore Date: 03 Nov 99 - 05:09 PM Doug, If a request like yours is not answered right away, you or another member may just type in a post with the word "refresh". Any post, including this one, puts the thread back at "the top of the heap." Otherwise, in 24 hours it goes underground. The default for thread titles gives you all of the threads with posts in the last 24 hours. You can go back years if you wish (and have the time to wait for it to load), but it requires an additional step. So Katlaughing has put you back at the top in hopes that someone might have an answer for you. I am sorry I don't, but now you know about "refresh." It is rare that there is no answer, but it does happen. Roger in Baltimore |

Subject: Lyr Add: DON'T TELL MAMA (Brock/Laseter/Williams) From: Jim Dixon Date: 28 Jan 10 - 10:07 PM Sung by Ty Herndon on this album "Living in a Moment" (1996): DON'T TELL MAMA Buddy Brock/Jerry Laseter/Kim Williams I was headed north on Highway Five, on a starlit Sunday night When a pickup truck flew by me out of control. As I watched in my headlights, he swerved left and then back right. He never hit the brakes as he left the road. I found him lyin' in the grass among the steel and glass With an empty whiskey bottle by his side. Through the blood and tears, he whispered in my ear A few last words just before he died: "Don't tell mama I was drinkin'. Lord knows her soul would never rest. I can't leave this world with mama thinkin' That I met the Lord with whiskey on my breath." I still think about that night, how that young man died, How others sometimes pay for our mistakes. Last thing on his mind as he left this world behind Was knowin' someone else's heart would break. "Don't tell mama I was drinkin'. Lord knows her soul would never rest. I can't leave this world with mama thinkin' I met the Lord with whiskey on my breath. Don't tell mama I was drinkin'." |
