Subject: More news about Sharp From: dick greenhaus Date: 28 Jan 13 - 03:38 PM AS some of you may know, with every set of Bronson's Traditional Tunes of the Child Ballads you order directly from CAMSCO, we include a CD-R containing a searchable, printable PDF of all four volumes. A lot of folks have told us that it's a very useful adjunct to the books.( Also available separately for $40). We're doing the same thing for our re-release of Sharp's English Folk Songs from the Southern Appalachians (free with a set of either Hard or Softcover versions; $30 if purchased separately). These CDs are fully searchable, and are bookmarked for easier reference. they are NOT simply photocopies of the books. dick greenhaus CAMSCO Music |

Subject: RE: More news about Sharp From: GUEST,Reinhard Date: 31 Jan 13 - 01:58 AM As interesting as digital editions of these books are, after reading the thread title I expected the announcement of a new Sharp biography or new information on Sharp and his work. |
Subject: RE: More news about Sharp From: Susan of DT Date: 31 Jan 13 - 03:46 PM Reinhard - These books are not just digital. This is a rerelease of Sharp's English Folk Songs from the Southern Appalachians in hard or soft cover. |

Subject: RE: More news about Sharp From: dick greenhaus Date: 01 Feb 13 - 10:38 AM Just for clarification. the CD is intended to supplement the books---not to replace them. Printed books are much more convenient (non-fiction books, at least)than their digital counterparts when it comes to thumbing back and forth to compare pages, and are (IMO) much pleasanter to read. The digital counterparts, on the other hand have search capabilities which their printed version lack. While both forms contain the same information, the combination makes for a much more powerful research tool. |
