I have a list of favourite Folk Songs (British) on Youtube and thought I might share it.... have a listen to any of them that take your fancy and perhaps give a link to your favourites if you have the time.    Playlist of my favourite British Folk Songs on Youtube.

Some excellent stuff there. Not sure about "Hard Times Come Again No more" on a list of favourite British folk songs though!

An interesting selection of generally very fine performances - but British Folk Songs? I would use that term to describe less than a quarter of the 24 items that are included.

Vic.... British = English/Scottish/Irish/Welsh..... but there is one which is not and was tagged on at the end as Greg quickly perceived!...

I haven't listened to all of them but like the ones I did listen to. One of my favorite songs because of the harmonies it generates is Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go, and I smiled when I saw you included it as done by The High Kings which includes Finbarr Clancy, son of Bobby Clancy. I smiled because one of my favorite singers of this song is Finbarr's sister Aoife Clancy. You can read about her here http://www.aoifeclancy.com/ac-bio.html . There are videos on her website and more on YouTube but none with her singing Will You Go . . . .

What a wonderful thread George. I have been going through your list and one of my favorites is yours. No shit!, it is great.

Maybe I'll try and post mine in the next few days. Hope others do as well.

Thanks.

This should give you my list of Cape Breton fiddling - leaning toward the older styles, not so much of the polished, slick, pretty stuff that you hear so much of these days ....

meself, how cool is this. Big brother just informed me that Denny Pitre is a second cousin. I didn't know but should have suspected something seeing as Mum's last name was Pitre.
Thanks

Standing at the door was written and sung by Allan Taylor who is a local man... part of Lincolnshires' heritage..... He has some more on Youtube which you might like a listen to when you have time. We see him here fairly regularly but he does travel the globe a lot.

Just finished listening to your song Bob. You have three elements to the song "The Ground She Walks Upon". 1) Well written. 2) Beautiful voice to go with it.
and 3) Your guitar work is smooth and well controlled.
The best of luck to you.
Adrien
