Subject: My favourites on Youtube.. playlist From: Georgiansilver Date: 29 Jan 13 - 04:04 PM I have a list of favourite Folk Songs (British) on Youtube and thought I might share it.... have a listen to any of them that take your fancy and perhaps give a link to your favourites if you have the time. Playlist of my favourite British Folk Songs on Youtube. |
Subject: RE: My favourites on Youtube.. playlist From: greg stephens Date: 29 Jan 13 - 04:12 PM Some excellent stuff there. Not sure about "Hard Times Come Again No more" on a list of favourite British folk songs though! |
Subject: RE: My favourites on Youtube.. playlist From: Vic Smith Date: 29 Jan 13 - 04:13 PM An interesting selection of generally very fine performances - but British Folk Songs? I would use that term to describe less than a quarter of the 24 items that are included. |
Subject: RE: My favourites on Youtube.. playlist From: Georgiansilver Date: 29 Jan 13 - 04:38 PM Vic.... British = English/Scottish/Irish/Welsh..... but there is one which is not and was tagged on at the end as Greg quickly perceived!... |
Subject: RE: My favourites on Youtube.. playlist From: GUEST,Lighter Date: 29 Jan 13 - 07:34 PM Interestingly enough, few of these are traditional. Just sayin'. |
Subject: RE: My favourites on Youtube.. playlist From: ChanteyLass Date: 29 Jan 13 - 09:48 PM I haven't listened to all of them but like the ones I did listen to. One of my favorite songs because of the harmonies it generates is Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go, and I smiled when I saw you included it as done by The High Kings which includes Finbarr Clancy, son of Bobby Clancy. I smiled because one of my favorite singers of this song is Finbarr's sister Aoife Clancy. You can read about her here http://www.aoifeclancy.com/ac-bio.html . There are videos on her website and more on YouTube but none with her singing Will You Go . . . . |

Subject: RE: My favourites on Youtube.. playlist From: Georgiansilver Date: 02 Feb 13 - 04:06 AM Standing at the door was written and sung by Allan Taylor who is a local man... part of Lincolnshires' heritage..... He has some more on Youtube which you might like a listen to when you have time. We see him here fairly regularly but he does travel the globe a lot. |
