Subject: Mike Harding Podcast From: LesB Date: 30 Jan 13 - 02:10 PM Now all the dust has settled on the Mike Harding vs Mark Radcliffe saga, How do we feel about Mike Hardings Folk Show /Podcast Personally I rarely listened to his R2 show & when I did was not impressed, but I am quite enjoying his podcast. Probably because I can listen at my convenience, but I also find his music choice much more varied. This week for instance Waterson Carth / Sam Larner / Bandoggs / Fay Hield / Leadbelly / Mary Asquith / Sue Harris / Edwina Heyes / Dick Gaughan / Alan Taylor & all new to me T with the Maggies / We Banjo 3 / LOWP / John McCutcheon / Robibson / Ribbon Rd / The Pearly Snaps / Turn Things Upside Down. Great to hear Mary Asquith & Sue Harris again & impressed by LOWP. Cheers Les |
Subject: RE: Mike Harding Podcast From: Dave Hanson Date: 30 Jan 13 - 02:43 PM Mikes show is much better than Mark Radcliffe's, he's got an easy going relaxed style, whilst Marks is a bit frantic. And without the constraints of the BBC and Smooth feckin Operations, his choice of music is a vast improvement. Dave H |

Subject: RE: Mike Harding Podcast From: Continuity Jones Date: 30 Jan 13 - 03:03 PM I heard this over the weekend, the Scottish singer James Yorkston hosting a radio show: http://www.mixcloud.com/SimpleFolkRadio/sfr-275-starring-james-yorkston-broadcast-270113/ The chat isn't anything special, but he chooses some great music. |
Subject: RE: Mike Harding Podcast From: GUEST,Chris Murray Date: 31 Jan 13 - 05:34 AM I'm enjoying both. I think that Mike has total control now over what he plays and I am enjoying his choices of music. Still irritates the hell out of me, though!!!! |
Subject: RE: Mike Harding Podcast From: SteveMansfield Date: 31 Jan 13 - 12:31 PM I'm enjoying both in their own ways. Mark Radcliffe's delivery doesn't annoy me and his enthusiasm shines through - lots of good information about current events and a range of music. Mike Harding, meanwhile, sounds very happy playing his records in his shed, and will hopefully develop the news side of the podcast. More power to both. |
