Something else I've noticed over the last few days is that
the DELETE option dosn't appear at the bottom of my permathread messages. I havn't been able to delete anything recently

To Sooz,

How have I become a guest? I have received about 10 messages
previously, one from Joe, but within the last few days they have all
gone. As far as I know I have done nothing that I havn't done in the past few weeks.

The only thing I've noticed is that there isn't an automatic
nname in the "From" panel on the "Reply to thread" window as I think there was previously.
I have to type my name in.

It may need someone to send me one to restore them. I don't

To BusyBee and MoorleyMan

We missed you, get when you can. Thanks for letting me know.

There were other misfortunes too, Albert had a migraine and
had to leave early but we had a great success when Danny
played Greensleeves in classical style and Jane treated us to some
new songs.

Hope this gets through. The Computer is poorly, it has to be looked at so I may be off air for a while.

Your right SJ. That was to be my next Do You Know.
I have kept Sooz informed of my advances in that direction.
I met Kath.at her Scunthorpe gig when she expressed a wish
to revisit her old home, She also said the same on Radio Lincs. I offered her accomodation with an old friend of her family.
She said this was fine.
Since then I have had to contact her through her agent who
said she would contact me when Kath. was in the area. I have
sent her two emails since then with little response.

We live in hopes!.

Disaster has struck. Iv'e lost the tapes from the last meeting
and only have hurried notes from the previous one so I can't
do full justice to what were very enjoyable nights in this report.

Moorleyman became poorly man at the last meeting after a distinguished first appearance,he travelling about 100 miles to be
with us. From our point of view it was well worth it . Thanks Dave . Apologies were received from him for the last meeting for he had the dreaded lurgy.

Carol gave us a lesson in latin with nunctus domino and Mike Wray
who had also travelled a fair distance, thanks Mike, followed with
a marvelous version of Beeswing

Mike and Sue Dewsbury brought a Christmas touch, as it was the
19 dec.with memories of the first world war, when the troops chose not to fight but to play football instead. There was not a sound in
the room, such was the feeling they put into it.

Moorley man then made his welcome debut with a happy Wassail song
and Joan Smithson accompanied herself on guitar with Silent Night
followed by husband Chris. who played his ever popular Leaning on
a Gate.

Carol, in all innocence, not knowing she was nicking Eric's christmas song, sang Little boy that Santa Clause forgot. For that she was
awarded an Onararey. Derogatory.

Albert Deakin came next with Gypsy woman and John Windle sang an
appealing song which went unnamed.

Eric then lowered the festive tone of the whole evening with his
self penned version of Little boy that Santa Clause forgot. Enough
said about that.

JK, again in all innocence, gave us one of Eric's sacred songs,
Fourpence a Day, of the lead mines in Swaledale and reluctantly
I have to admit she made a good job of it.

Mike brought the meeting to a close with a happy song, reminicent
of Navvy Boots On, which told the story of a sailors encounters in
port.
                                 Next meeting,Mon.16 Jan. 8pm.
                                 Old School Inn
                                 Battle Green
                                 Epworth.

Eric
I don't use my permathread anymore, because its better for me to use a basic thread (as you put it)
The line up at my club changes each time, so it is easier to start a new thread with a date in the title.

If you use the Perma thread, then basically you delete all the posts that are not needed anymore.

If you are trying to keep a blog (diary of events) as such then a permathread is ideal, because you can delete all offensive/off track posts and keep the thread tidy.
You can't do that with a basic thread.

Every so often, you will have a guest artist doing a full gig. In situations like this, start a basic thread so that you alert people to the fact.
An example might be if you have Vin Garbutt coming to Epworth on Jan 2nd 2006, then I would make the title

Vin Garbutt Epworth FC 2/1/06

That draws attention to the event.

You can also put it on your Perma Thread, but your Permathread does not highlight the fact that Vin is gracing your club :-)

THIS IS AN EXAMPLE - just incase anybody thinks its for real :-)

Delete all those refresh posts on this thread to begin with Eric

Les

postings onto permathread ?. What use does the basic thread serve?

Villan, The refresh messages I have left were put there by Joe
for some reason, so who am I to argue and the others I have left until
after our next meeting.

Hi, I'm back after my sojourn in Lancashire. What a surprise. My
previous thread went to the graveyard in the sky after only one day
so I have to start again.

Can you work your magic Sooz and put my permathread back on.

Ep'th folk will be meeting as usual on Monday 2nd.January for it's usual singaround at the Old School Inn at 8p.m.All welcome.

I have slept in 4 different beds over the last few days,
Consequently I have got the dreaded lurgy but should be there.

Can anyone help me. I am seeking the Darren Gough final of the
Come Dancing programme for my nephew who is cricket mad and rather poorly. If anyone has a recording, could I borrow it for a few days
because the BBC can't supply one.
