Subject: battle of jutland From: linda kelly Date: 02 Nov 99 - 03:37 PM any sea songsters able to help with lyrics?. Johnny Collins sings this but as far as I am aware it has not been recorded. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: battle of jutland From: Pete peterson Date: 03 Nov 99 - 10:39 AM Is this the one that the Boarding Party sing under the title "Survivor Leave?" If so it is in the DT under the second title. No direct reference to Jutland, just another example that Sherman was right |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: battle of jutland From: Pete M Date: 04 Nov 99 - 04:50 AM So far as I remember, "Survivor leave" was written by a Ken Stevens of "Boarding Party" after talking to some matelots returned from the Falklands war. There was a thread some time ago about the battle of Jutland, but I don't think anyone came up with any lyrics. Pete M |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: battle of jutland From: Wolfgang Date: 04 Nov 99 - 06:21 AM Old thread on Battle of Jutland with a very tiny bit of lyrics and some background information on the battle. Wolfgang |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: battle of jutland From: Charley Noble Date: 22 Apr 01 - 04:39 PM And for the record, Boarding Party did sing "Survivor's Leave" and Ken Stevens, a fine nautical songwriter, wrote it but was never a member of Boarding Party. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: battle of jutland From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 23 Apr 01 - 12:55 PM Follow the link in the thrad and all the lyrics are there. (Unless you have somehow heard my Jutland song. Ahem.) My grandparents were married at Gt Yarmouth on 2nd June 1916 as the news of the battle was breaking. My grandmother had 2 brothers on Indefatigable. My grandfather although in Naval uniform was given a white feather that morning. Keith. |
