An Acadian band from Moncton, New Brunswick named 1755 recorded a tune named, I think, Salut, CB Buddy. It's an excellent example of how we Acadians use two languages at once. It begins:

"Chu parti de Waltham avec une load dans ma van.

J'l'ai mis dans l'gear pis j'ai embarque sur le highway ...

The Chorus goes:

"Salut CB Buddy / Hello Honky turkey / Ch'tired de'm'voir promener sur les highways

10-4 there Teddy Bear / Right on Golden Vagabond / Ch'tired de m'voir promener sur les highways"

I've never been able to get all the lyrics. Can anybody help?

1755 is one of the GREAT talents to come from the area. Salut and more! I find each day that more and more young artists rise from our various heritages and surprise and delight us with their talents because of the lead of such artists as 1755.

The cultural mix of French, Irish, English, German... others, is just SO rich.

Not just the music... the humour, the sense of community and comradery, of family and history... of shared hard times... for many, of a shared broken language mix that we grew up with that brought us together.

Salut indeed!
