Heard "Wild Thing" just a few days ago and said it was by the "Troggs". My son looked at me and said "Who?".

Always love that number. Sympathies to his love ones. Fans as well.

Well, his "Love is All Around" will be remembered for a very long time.
If only for its inclusion in the film "Love Actually".

Heard a quote from Reg Presley on Radio 4 this morning.

He was in work & heard "Wild Thing" playing on the radio -

"Share out me tools lads, I'm off!"

R.I.P.

The first Troggs song that comes to mind is "Wild Thing," and I've always thought that song was the epitome of coolness. Don't forget "Love Is All Around," though. I listened to both songs on Spotify just now, in tribute to Reg.
They're still good songs.

Saw The Troggs at The Neeld Hall in Chippenham in 1966, just after Wild Thing had made the top ten. Neeld Hall didn't usually have such well known acts for their dances on a Saturday night, but the The Troggs had been booked, and fairplay to them, they honoured the booking in spite of their recent success.

Often referred to as "Andover's Troggs", they were probably the most famous thing to come out of Andover.

Sorry to hear Reg has gone so relatively young. RIP.

Rog

Sorry to hear about this.

I should point out though that "Wild Thing" was actually a Chip Taylor song.

REM were fans of Reg and they recorded an album together. REM also did an acoustic version of Love is All Around in their unplugged programme - well before Wet Wet Wet got hold of it.

For any newbies to guitar--how to play Wild Thing (said Thang).

Imitation is the sincerest of flattery.

Nobody going to mention "The Troggs Tapes" ? Apart from their music, they'll go down in rock history for that recording. I liked the Troggs - RIP, Reg.

Reg was also interested in crop circles.

Here's something he wrote.

MOTHER EARTH The Truth.
By Reg Presley.

In the Summer Ninteen Ninety, when the heat was quite intense,
I draw to your attention, a chain of strange events.
Things have happened to me, and to some of my best friends,
A phenomenon is happening, and the mystery never ends.

I remember reading somewhere, of a circle in the corn,
It appeared due west of where I live, and just before the dawn.
A compelling feeling told me, that I really had to go,
So I left home fairly quickly, and drove 40 miles or so.

As I reached the Vale of Pewsey, and The White Horse on the hill,
The sight I saw beneath me, gave my bones a sudden chill.
There streched out below me, 60 metres down the field,
A pictogram of many shapes, what secrets would it yield ?

Since then I've seen so many, and walked in quite a few,
and I've the strangest feeling, that the patterns hold the clue.
I've heard so many answers, from folks who think they know,
but the truth to this enigma, unfolds very, very slow.

You must draw on all conclusions, and don't laugh at anyone,
'cause the answer is in all of us, who live beneath the Sun.
Our Mother has a problem, and a problem we have made,
and She tries to tell us slowly, in the corn She gently lays.

Younger brothers do not listen, and the time is getting short,
so Mother has to frighten us, but as a last resort.
She'll conjure up the evil winds, that will move the Seven Seas,
and move the molten mountains, and bring countries to their knees.

Then we shall see a vision, like the World has never seen,
Something will come in light and sound, to end our nightmare dream.
From that day on the world will change, in a way we know,
and those that come will help us all, to make the whole World grow.

So little men of power, who never got things right,
and are probably laughing at this now, will get the biggest fright.
Your money will mean nothing, and power's not the key,
the answer simply balance, and perfect harmony.

Loved the Troggs and "The Troggs Tape".

Love is All round was possibly my least favourite.

Thanks Rog Peek for mentioning Andover and Chippenham's Neeld Hall -
I had my first gig there Dec 1969.
