Subject: Terry Gould - Several Kinds of Loving? From: GUEST,Litto Date: 05 Feb 13 - 09:44 AM Of all the rare records in the Bill Leader Discography, the 1969 LP Several Kinds of Loving by Terry Gould on Sing 001 might be the rarest. So much that an image of the cover for the lavishly illustrated Bill Leader Discography on my blog - http://www.dyversemusic.com/2013/01/bill-leader-discography.html - totally eludes me. Can any Mudcatter help out? Plus, generally, does anyone know anything about Gould? (This for the book I'm writing about Leader.) He cuts a mysterious figure though he recently appeared in archive footage in the Folk Britannia series, seen performing at the Hampstead Folk Club and pouring coffee beans in his Hampstead High Street coffee shop. Bill thinks he retired to Northampton, or similar, to make guitar capos when he sold the shop. A classical guitar tuition record by Gould appeared in 1972. Can anyone flesh out these bare bones. Thanks. Mike |
Subject: RE: Terry Gould - Several Kinds of Loving? From: John MacKenzie Date: 05 Feb 13 - 10:27 AM I remember Terry well, from the aforementioned Hampstead club. The Enterprise, Chalk Farm, it was called. I first saw Tim Hart and Maddy Prior there, and saw my first ever example of clog dancing. I had an argument (minor) with Jimmy McGregor about his portrayal of Bonnie Prince Charlie, to the mainly English audience. I don't know where he went from there, although I do remember all the guitar accessories marketed under his name, very John Pearse :) The club was next to the best ice cream parlour in London, Marine Ices. |
Subject: RE: Terry Gould - Several Kinds of Loving? From: GUEST,Terry Gould Date: 28 Oct 13 - 09:06 AM I am very flattered that people remember me from the Several Kinds of Loving LP, which came from my London theatre production of the same name. Hampstead flok club was a good launch pad for a career which included solo singing tours in fourteen countries. I have continued to be very busy in many fields, including - my own business manufacturing musical instrument accessories, which are exported to 25 countries, being a principal lecturer in business, at what is now the Universsity of Northampton, organising exchanges of students and staff with universities throughout western europe, Working as a volunteer in central America, doing a Ph D study in Alsace concerning the French government suppressing their regional languages, and now with the University of the Third Age, among other things. So I have been very Busy. If anyone wants to contact me my email is terence.gould@hotmail.co.uk |
